We had a dispute with our Landlord in respect of the condition of our property at the end of our tenancy.

Our Self-build project hit some financial issues in the early design stages and our builders prices seemed to be excessive.

Paul advised us on how to 'Value Engineer' the works to suit and provided us with a very detailed and Risk-loaded budget which highlighted issues in the proposed build which we hadn't even thought about. He also suggested alternative build options such as Timber-framing and SIPS which allowed us to get a better value for our money and a much better home.

We eventually went with a SIPS build.

Paul advised us as needed throughout and helped us source materials, specialist trades and validated our supply chain payments so we had the assurance that we had best value for what we were paying.

We only had issue with one builder and Paul resolved this for us quickly and helped us find a replacement without delaying the works.

This guy know his stuff and we would recommend him to anyone looking to build their own place. We came to Mavericks of Tenby because the Architect's 'budget' was ridiculously low and the builders quote was high on price but short on content and detail … everyone if you want to build your own place get a good QS on board from the start … as we did!

I moved into an unfurnished property and immediately found that the condition of the house was not suitable for me and my children. I had to address this with the landlord through his letting agency and look to cancel my tenancy agreement and find another place to live.

I asked Paul to take a look at the property and give me a summary (property condition survey) stating in detail the issues with the property. This was done within 24 hours and a comprehensive report was issued to our landlord (this was a very large and detailed document complete with photos and recommendations to fix the problems identified).

I was able with the help of this service to get the landlord to reconsider the matter and I was released from the tenancy agreement without further delay or issue. I was then able to find another more suitable home for me and my children.

I have known Paul since he was a Junior QS, in the early 2000's. At that time he was already vary experience through his work with his dad's firm and I was often surprised on his commercial abilities across the meeting table ... always to the point yet would not skimp on his qualifications and always professional in his conduct.

Over the years we have stayed in touch and it has been a pleasure working with him again on several occasions (including twice with his provision through Maverick's of Tenby).

Most recently, he assisted us with a contractual dispute (NEC3 based - with bespoke adjustments). His independent assessment and report gave over solicitors the key information in a clear chronological schedule, highlighting the breaches and 'loopholes' from the contract commitment to date. Without this we were spiralling with the client in a perpetual loop with both parties claiming bias entitlement. His knowledge of the NEC3 suite of contracts is impressive and his assessment was fair to all parties involved (including stated observations where we were at fault in the matter).

I know Paul is currently studying Law and seeking to further his knowledge and abilities through chartered professional bodies. I wish him luck and hope he retains his core profession as he is an extremely dedicated and experienced surveyor. I will certainly continue to utilise his services as and when the need arises!

Highly recommended and keep your high standards Paul, they are 'old school' but still as respectable and essential now as they were 'back in the day'!!
